30-day beauty program for prom night!

A special moment in your life is about to take place: your senior prom! With just one more month before the big night, your beauty mission is to take care of yourself. Here’s a program to ensure you don’t forget anything.

1 MONTH BEFORE

Enrich your beauty routine

In addition to carefully cleansing your face every night, use a gentle facial scrub 2 to 3 times a week if you have greasy or acne-prone skin, or once a week if you have sensitive or dry skin. After each exfoliation, nourish your epidermis with a facial mask specific to your skin type.

Treat dark circles under your eyes in the morning and evening with a specially-made cream. Apply it by patting the cream on gently with the fingertips, without rubbing.
Throughout the month, drink a lot of water, sleep well and eat a balanced diet. A healthy lifestyle is your best beauty strategy.

Deeply moisturize your skin

Moisturized skin looks much more radiant! When you get out of the shower, apply a rich, nourishing moisturizer, paying special attention to rougher areas like elbows and knees.
Apply a firming product on your hips, stomach and thighs every day.

Boost your hair’s natural shine

Choose a shampoo and a conditioner that suit your hair type (short, long, coloured, straight, curly, etc.). Rinse thoroughly with cool water.
Treat dull, damaged, oily or hard-to-manage hair with a targeted hair care product such as a cream rinse or mask.
Finish off with a high gloss serum, if needed.

2 WEEKS BEFORE

Take on more colour

Start by determining which tanning product is best for you. For a natural-looking tan that lasts 5 to 7 hours, try a classic self-tanner in cream, gel or spray form. For a subtle tan that can be washed away with water, choose apowder that gives the face, neckline and legs a tanned look.
Two weeks before prom night, test a few areas of your skin to get an idea of how your tan will look on the day of the prom. A few days before the event, apply your self-tanner or test your sun makeup.

1 WEEK BEFORE

Test your prom makeup

First, pluck your eyebrows to the perfect shape. By doing this in advance, you avoid redness on the big day.
Book an appointment with your Jean Coutu cosmetician. She will help you select the best makeup products to enhance your natural beauty.
Then, try them out at home and create your makeup look – or set up an appointment with your Jean Coutu cosmetician to have your makeup done on the day of the prom.

Freshen up your hairstyle

See your hairdresser for a cut and to refresh your hair colour. Note: now is not the time to experiment with a new look you might regret!
At home, try out your prom hairstyle and the styling products you’ll be using that night. Why not invite a friend over and test different looks together?

2 DAYS BEFORE

Hair removal: legs and underarms

Remove hair with wax, making sure to moisturize your skin when you’re done. If the skin is irritated, apply a soothing aloe-based lotion or argan oil. Avoid sunlight and scrubs for 48 hours so as not to irritate your skin further. (Shaving can be done the day of the ball.

THE DAY BEFORE

Brighten up your complexion

Use a facial scrub to remove dead skin cells. This will soften your skin and give you a smoother complexion. Note: don’t try any new products the day before an important event to avoid potential irritations that could cause redness or an allergic reaction that may be hard to conceal.

Relax!

Take the time to unwind in a nice warm bath. To make it even more relaxing, add a drop or two of lavender essential oil. Go to bed early and get a good night’s sleep.

THE DAY OF THE PROM

Do your nails

Give yourself a home manicure and pedicure. Harden and moisturize your nails using nourishing products, then beautify them with coloured polish and original motifs. For best results, allow sufficient time to dry.

Be well prepared!

Remember to bring a small beauty kit with you including tissues, a small mirror, pressed powder, lipstick, mini-deodorant, nail glue and file, bandages and chewing gum. Have a great night!
