5 holiday makeup ideas

The holidays are a time for festive evenings and long nights. Whether you’re getting ready for Christmas Eve, an office party or a reception with friends, here are some essentials to ensure that your makeup is as unforgettable as the festivities.

False lashes

The holiday season is the ideal time for the doe-eyed look!  But before you’re ready to bat your eyes, you should know that false lashes come in three lengths: short, medium and long. If you prefer a natural effect, choose short or medium lashes. You can even trim them to suit your look. Regardless of the length, if you have blonde or chestnut hair, choose brown false lashes, for a more natural look.
For a dramatically intense look, choose long false lashes.  Christmas is the ideal time to adopt a daring and hyperglamorous look, so you can play the vamp by wearing feather tipped or sequin false lashes. Guaranteed results!

How to apply false lashes

On a lash band
Before applying your false lashes, put on all your eye makeup, including mascara. Measure the length of the band by placing it against your eyelid before applying it. If the band is too long, trim it from the outer corner of the eye. Then apply the glue by tracing a very thin line at the base of your false lashes. Use tweezers to grip the lash band and place it just above the base of your natural lashes. Finish by applying a new coat of mascara so that your eye makeup is uniform.
In bundles
If you have chosen false lashes in bundles, (assemblies of a few lashes), do not apply your mascara before your false lashes. Grasp the bundles with tweezers, one at a time, and dip them delicately in a little glue. Put them in your hand and, looking straight ahead, place them one at a time on the edge of the upper eyelid, between the centre and the outer corner of the eye. Position them at a slight angle so they are oriented towards the outer corner of the eye. Finally, draw the lash line with a pencil.

Coloured smokey eyes

Smokey eyes are a classic look that never goes out of style, adding a chic touch to any outfit. During this festive season, why not try coloured smokey
eyes instead of traditional black? If you have blue eyes, choose golden tints, for a guaranteed classy look! If you have hazel eyes, go for plum tints, which gives your eyes warmth and intensity. Amazons with dark eyes can dare anything, but midnight blue will make them rule the night …
Remember: For perfect smokey eyes, draw a pencil line at the base of the upper eyed, then blend in the line with your fingertip. Apply eyeshadow in a colour that complements your pencil. Repeat the steps for the lower eyelid and then apply a generous coat of mascara.

Garnet lipstick

Garnet lipstick, a dark reddish-brown, has long been a sign of elegance (the latest James Bond Girl, Bérénice Marlohe, wore a fabulous garnet red!). Find just the right shade. Garnet is such an intense colour that if it isn’t properly matched to the colour of your teeth and your complexion, you won’t get the glam effect you want! There are several shades of garnet. Some are bluer, while others are pinker or even more orange. To know which shade to choose, ask one of our cosmeticians for advice and try different looks. Now you’re ready for a kiss under the mistletoe!
Glitter, sparkling oils and powders
Take advantage of the holidays to bring out your glitter and sparkling oils and powders. Sparkling powder is applied with a wide brush to the neck, shoulders and cleavage to illuminate each expanse of skin! Sparkling oil is also applied to the cleavage, neck and shoulders, but it is especially effective to make the scalp shine and highlight the curve of the legs. As a bonus, sparkling oil releases a generally intoxicating perfume. Use glitter to enhance your eye makeup. Use the same shade as your pencil and eyeshadow.
